One-Time Princess's Co-op Sells for $4.25M

Before the multi-hyphenate It girls of the 21st century, there was Lee Bouvier Radziwill—younger sister of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, wife of a Polish prince for a time, and well known socialite, tastemaker, and fixture of the Upper East Side, where her apartment of over 30 years sold for $4.25 million, reports The Observer

Radziwill passed away in February, with many of her properties and possessions hitting the market soon thereafter. Her Upper East Side co-op originally listed for $5.7 million in April, according to The Observer, but the price quickly dropped to $4.9 million. In July it went into contract at that price, but finally sold for the $4.25 million price in October. In the same month, The Observer reports, Christie’s auctioned $1.26 million worth of art, furniture, jewelry, photographs, and personal items that had adorned her classic New York aerie as well as her other residences around the world.

Listing details provided by Brown Harris Stevens brokers Leslie Coleman, Mary Rutherfurd and Noah D. Dopkins show that the unit, reached through a private elevator vestibule, occupies the entire 15th floor of 160 East 72nd Street. A 31-foot living room featuring a wood-burning fireplace, classic moldings, and built-in bookshelves has wide plank floors, three arched windows, and access to a planted terrace. Along with a windowed kitchen and formal dining room, the public entertaining areas are separated from the three bedrooms by a wide hallway. The master suite also contains a wood-burning fireplace.
