VIDEO: Composting is Now Mandatory in NYC Tips for Getting Residents Onboard

Collecting food scraps for curbside composting pickup is now mandatory in NYC, with the Department of Sanitation (DSNY) rolling out compost bins to multifamily buildings across the city. But how to get the word out and encourage condo, co-op, and rental building residnts to get onboard with composting? On October 16, Hillary Bosch of DSNY and Jacquie Ottman, immediate past chair of the Manhattan Solid Waste Advisory Board, briefed members of the Council of NYC Cooperatives and Condominiums (CNYC) on how to engage residents of the city's multifamily buildings in food scraps collection, stressing to attendees that "It's easier, cleaner, greener than you think!" Click here to listen to the conversation.
